"cultural Marxism" is what I call "angry white male syndrome."

Is feminism "angry white female syndrome?"

What I meant was what I said. The yada yada about "cultural marxism" is not quite incoherent.

Many of the people who use the term smell a rat in the PCness that floats around some parts of our culture, especially in the restriction of discourse as found in many universities in US, Canada and Europe.

What drives the thought of such folk as would, and do, restrict the free speech of visitors to universities? Years ago, left wingers were excluded from universities; now, right wingers tend to be excluded.

The right look to the ideological roots of of those who would exclude them (eg. "cultural marxism") and this might well be a mistake, I think.

Both right and left have limited the free speech of the other.

The leads either side to feel they have the right to do this?

Why is political discourse becoming more savage and outright obstructionism (which is winner take all) more common? This is happening in both our countries and in Europe and internationally.

What makes this sort of activity more extreme?

Why are the children of modernity devaluing reason and democracy, the things that make it worthwhile?

I was trying to get at these sorts of things.

Yes, the baby may be going out with the bathwater.

Why not say what you mean? There are things you think are important, that others used to think are important, that are not being given the importance you think they deserve anymore.

I would be willing to entertain an argument that the baby is being thrown out with the bathwater.

Feminism.

For example, one of the major bug-a-boos of those who use the phrase "cultural Marxism" is feminism. They actually are stupid enough to equate Marxism with feminism.

A lot of very articulate media savvy feminists are on the left, so they make assumptions. The loony part of the right and certain religious types simply don't think feminists are legitimate in their concerns and will say anything at all - marxists, nazis, dykes - as long as the label is perjorative.

Like a some male writing, a very small amount of more exaggerated feminist output is on the edge of lunacy and give these guys ammunition.

Historically, feminists have been concerned with making political and economic rights of women equal to those of men. And with putting them into historical record in a more significant way than heretofore so the prestige of women is equal to that of men.

In accomplishing these things we find the devil is in the details.... It's going to take a while until things settle down
