If you use Startup Monitor (http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml)you can say No when you get alerted that msconfig wants to run something at startup. Yeah, it's still an extra click but it's better than that pop up at your next boot. Startup Monitor is a great free utility it alerts you when ever something new wants to be added at bootup then you can allow it or not.

Mr. Mark suggested using the Add/Remove programs. I tried it. Removed "gateway Ink monitor". So far so good.

Guess there is a method to put it back but at this point I don't know what that is. After I clicked remove, it disappeared from the Add/Remove window.

I will post again in a couple days to report status. Thanks to all for good input.
