PBS has been showing a reality show called Colonial House. What's really interesting is to see the PR spin versus history. The English who came over, largely for economic reasons, imposed strict religious persecution. Some of them may have been running from religious persecution but once they were in power themselves, they became the persecutors. (It's Animal Farm) It's also really interesting to hear that Thanksgiving had nothing to do with the natives welcoming anyone. It's more like the native men suspiciously accepting a meal which they never did again. Their descendants now treat Thanksgiving as a day of mourning.
