Actually the bravest volunteers are men like Kerry who knew there was a dangerous war going on, could have avoided it but boldly offered to serve his country despite the ability to dodge like Bush, Delay and Cheney did. Once in battle, Kerry also performed way beyond the call of duty. That is real heroism.

Our current soldiers are mostly terrific, but the regular military guys are mainly lifer professionals. It's not just about serving it's their job and career. The Guardsmen today are also courageous, but most of these "weekend warruiors" had no idea they'd be called up to serve anywhere near this long. Therefore, many of them regret it. It is a huge price they have paid. Those guys probably won't be voting for Bush. In many cases, he's destroyed their lives.

In any just war where we are attacked, there are few people in this country who not fight to defend ourselves. Iraq was not that kind of case at all. Afghanistan was a just war, but Iraq was not. This is teh real issue.

Bushies knew that but fabricated lies to talk us into supporting them. Those very lies are at the foundation of the failures there now. That is why Bush is a disgrace as commander in chief and can never be trusted again. He and his whole dishonest chickenhawk gang deserve the boot.
