X, I think part of the reason we get so many problems is because of governmental dishonesty, deviousness, mendacity, manipulation and general sneakiness, not to mention greed.

<I think there are devious ways to work against one's foes, without making it obvious to the whole world that one is at war. Of course one could wonder whether devious means can work within a democracy- and I don't know if they can- but, imo, with an enemy like Osama and Co devious means are the best means. >

Of course it's a good idea to deceive an enemy, but in doing so, one doesn't want to fool one's own side, and even self, too much. Tricking Osama into the open and catching him would be just fine.

Governments should ensure they don't create enemies by being dishonest, greedy, mendacious etc... in the first place.
