You're absolutely correct in your definition of capacity factor. My response was in direct reference to Darffot's post that 225,000MW of gas capacity had been installed over the past five years. Most such references to installed capacity refer to nameplate capacity.

I wanted to convey the point that such a reference didn't mean that there was that much capacity out there sucking gas 24/7. Perhaps "capacity utilization" would has been a better term that most non-utility people are familiar with.

Thanks for the further clarification.
