This is not Mogadishu. However it is true any super power can be beaten by guerilla warfare. The Russians and the US both pulled out of Afganistan and Vietnam. The real reason what that neither country really had any strategic interest, nor was either war really justifiable. We have a similar situation in Iraq. However, if it is a just war, the super power always wins because there is a real reason to fight besides just being ordered to.

Nobody is saying "cut and run" but the value of remaining in Iraq gets less and less as things get worse. At this point we would be lucky just to leave the place semi pacified.
