Great response, uw! Sounds like some of the principles written about in "The Millionaire Next Door".....

I read that book recently and immediately mailed 23 copies to young people I respect. Like you, I saw myself therein.

The only other book I felt that way about was "Green Berets At War". Perhaps (but I hope not...Or do I?) because that one did mention me by name.

The very best book about and the most accurate depiction of soldiers' feelings in Nam was "Dispatches".

The most technically accurate film was "Platoon". The story line was completely false imo. But the life and death firefights and battlefield decisions and the morality nicks were close to my personal combat experiences.
