Correction to my earlier post: Tracy is indeed only ~55 miles away from San Jose. What's a few miles, given the cost of gas, and the opportunity cost of time (spent in idling traffic).

After living a few years in So Cal, every place seems further away. <g>

By my unscientific estimate, it should take ~2 hours from Tracy to San Jose, during 'normal' hours. And yes, this is an accepted commute in much of the California metros. Remember, this is just one-way. Unless you could sleep under your desk (visions of the dot-com days).
