Bush wont win the popular vote. He won't get more than 45% maximum. Therefore he needs a "miracle" (or disaster in our book) to squeak by.

Don't you think it's much more likely that Bush will lose both the electoral and popular vote? It's beginning to look like the only way Bush can stay in is by declaring martial law and cancelling the elections.

I imagine the reaction would be that he lost.

We've had the electoral college from the outset.
A person can lose the popular vote and still
win the election. And that applies to whomever wins.

Seems that the founding fathers didn't share your
concerns about the "spirit of majority rule."
