Franklin did far more that the kite experiment, which easily could have killed him and his son. He invented or discovered the lightning rod, the concept of daylight savings time, the Gulf Stream, a type of wood stove, an odometer for measuring distance in a carriage, the glass harmonica, bifocal glasses.

That was actually a Mickey Mouse feature once upon a time. I saw it when I was a kid. It was TOO a talkie. <G>

Most of the stories about Franklin are true, whereas most of those about Washington are fable. My favorite Franklin story is that King Louis XVI of France had a likeness of Ben painted inside his chamber pot. I guess US/French relations were great even back then. <G>
