Congress did not declare war on Iraq or Afghanastan as mandated by the Constitution. A vaque authorization is not a declaration of war. The founding fathers weren't dummies. They knew how government could run amok and start wars so easily, which is why they wanted the power to declare war to rest with Congress. What is going on today in America is exactly what the founding fathers feared would occur if the federal government, especially the President, became too powerful. The Constitution was written to prevent just the kind of abuses of power that we've witnessing today.
