Re: Didn't you just say that we are losing? No. I agreed with you that strategic success will only be measured in the long-run. However, short-term trends are very worrying. It is possible to have a Pyrric Victory --- to win every short-term military battle, and still engender a higher level of hatred for the US in the region, more terrorists aimed at us, and wind up with no military bases in Iraq at all, a Theocratic government there sympathetic to Iran... and only the headache of $300 - $500 Billion of deficit spending left to the US taxpayers and their children.
