cable is semantics. A.T. and T broadband became part of comcast. No? you just pretty much plug in to the phone company or whatever you want to call them. it's all pretty much fiber optics and jumbo routers when you get to the trunk of it. with the so called cable 'network' you got one big ip address with everybody sharing the broadband. with the single ip you'r not sharing with your neighbor. we got so many comcast trucks and sbc trucks running everywhere. oh well. this will all get interesting. and yes i agree that success begets success and a high tide raises all ships especially in a primitive market like this.

But the question is can mini companies survive the short term? Cable owns most of the entertainment pipe, and they treat it as their own, not public property...

Microsoft is democratic compared to the cable providers.
