Hey,

Now that you're in a position to actually do something about things, remember this discussion we had some time ago:

Message 19311989

See also (for a better translation to Geek): Message 19312441

Is that a possibility in the future?

This part, "http://www." isn't necessary in the site parameter, and can simply be site:siliconinvestor.com

Returns more results, 400 vs. 355 on:
rrufff site:siliconinvestor.com
google.com

Not sure about the reason for that, though. Maybe they're just repeats from dev.siliconinvestor.com? No, that doesn't make sense either. There'd be a bigger diff than 45. Hmmmmm....

"...the thread listings, which include the first portion of the text of each message."

And, the author is in the thread listing, too, right? Which allows one to search by a specific author. What I don't understand is, if that is correct, why doesn't it show ALL posts by a specific author? I realize that would be a heavy "load", but just trying to decipher the logic.

I also noticed that on the Google results listing, more that just the "thread listing" data is displayed. So while it is searching on the thread listing (including author) the results includes part of the text of the message, and IF the key word is in the text, it is also displayed. As a simple example, if I search with my alias and it finds a message that I posted to myself, it shows the "TO:" as well as the "FROM" in the result.

Bill Ulrich is quite correct in pointing out that by deleting the "www." prefix, one does get substantially more hits, but after a few minutes of trying to compare the results to spot the differences between the two lists, I gave up. <G>

Bill

Thanks for the responses to you and bill and others.

As an aside, RB has been broken in one way or another for sometime. Have you guys planted any trojans over there? <vbg>

Actually, I was thinking that you guys should have set up some type of incentive for posters to open or post on stock specific threads, to eliminate the need for RB. I for one, would never go to RB or Yahoo again if there were active stock threads over here for most stocks. I'm also willing to pay extra for premium services.
