I didn't know so I looked it up; in 2000 it was ~833,000. Probably higher now, judging by McMannis's angst level.

They went Bush in 2000, and the he only "won" by ~500 votes. So it's significant.

Even national elections are won on local issues and organization, because of the electoral college. The organization that can win the little groups, break even on the rest, and get out the vote will always win a close election.

Actually, the Cuban population is a diminishing factor as as South American arrivals have come in.
