Well, Mr. Long, I'm not pinning to blame for our out of control government on conservatives or Republicans for that matter. Liberals and Democrats were reponsible for Viet Nam War and that was indeed a war if there ever was one, and it was not declared by Congress (an unconstitutional war). I wouldn't lump the Carter failed military operation against Iran into that category, because that's exactly the kind of flexibility a President should have. The Presidnet should be able to carry out a limited military operation to defend the nation's interests. But, full-fledged wars, without Congressional authorization is unconstitutional and indicate a serious problem with our current government, simple as that.

I'm not trying to lay blame on either political party or any political philosophy. What I'm try to do is get to the root of the problem. It's a rather simple problem. The last war that was Constitutionally declared was WW2. Ever since then, both Ds and Rs have allowed our government to run amok, and have let the military have free reign, wasting trillons of dollars along the way. It is this slippery slop which has led us into this sad war situation we're now engaged in Iraq that has hurt our prestige in the world and was started on faulty premesis and intelligence. We're too cavlier about using our military. We need to return to our roots and debate wars and have Congressional approval for war declarion, perhaps we could have avoided this latest mess if we'd done just that.
