as my friend Kurt Richebacher puts it.....

the USA is slowly moving toward a more fascist state
just look at the slow erosion of the Bill of Rights
I mean the civil liberties, such as search and seizure, right to trial, presumption of innocence, invasion of privacy, blocks to deportation

these are eroding in our current climate of distress
both commodity scarcity and debt implosion will challenge the body politic worldwide as it collides with the need to provide security

Empires generally survive about 100 to 200 years. If you look back at Egyptian dynasties or Chinese dynasties you'll see that there is a pattern. Governments nearly always get out of control after that period of time. They end up contemptuous of the people. The Chinese bureaucrats grew their fingernails extra long as an indication of the contempt they had towards working people.

I'm also wondering if it's a lost cause. Bush certainly makes it look like it. Clinton wasn't much better.
