your naive awareness is alarming

As are your denials that democrats were EQUALLY in favor of the Patriot Act. Just look at all the democratic Senators that voted in favor of it:

senate.gov

98 to 1, with one abstaining.

And it passed the house without amendment..

Now who wrote the bill and passed it almost unanimously in the house, 357-62? Congress..

And who signed it into law? Bush..

And who is charged with enforcing it?.. Ashcroft..

Yet, people like YOU are trying to claim that I'm "naive"??

Shame on you...

Congress voted almost unanimously for the Patriot Act and it would have been political suicide for Bush to veto it, now wouldn't it have been??

Listen... you can blame Bush for a whole lot of things.. But being the guy who somehow "forced" a large majority of congress to pass that bill so he could sign it into law is not one of them..

If you want to blame anyone for "public disdain for the bill of rights", then you need to point your accusations squarely at Congress.

Especially since the Senate was DEMOCRATICALLY LED at the time by Tom Daschle..

Moron...
