So, what works ... works.

Cheap computer time and pattern recognition algorithms are great tactical methods. Understanding theory is of strategic value. It lets you design better tactics and pays off in the long-term.

The debate right now seems to my superficial view as being between the idea that oil comes from biomass vs. oil comes from hydrocarbon-heat reactions deep below that migrate to the surface over time. I'm curious if you lean towards one theory or the other - or simply don't think it matters in the short-term.
