Yes, you can't go about transforming an entire society, get them off the farm and into factories, set up a huge resource dependency, run those global resource inventories down to a few days or few weeks supply, then say "we didn't really mean it", and live to tell about it. This will be a most interesting phase of the Train Wreck. Meanwhile I hear Starbucks is selling extra lattes?
