Well those are quite enough to thwart any truly conservative initiative. Indeed, it has often happened that when Democrats presented a virtually solid front against the GOP, a gaggle of Republicans either joined them or withheld their support, which gave effective support to the Democrats.

But these leftist GOPers only represent the left-pointing tip of the GOP spear. The trend is not rightward, but wrongward.
