But they didn't think they were innocents, CD. They believed everyone in the WTC towers were combatants.. Infidels to be stamped out and eliminated like bugs.. And if that meant they had to sacrifice their physical lives so that they could collect their heavenly rewards, then so be it... Thus, their courage was actually an act of selfish greed.. They wanted to be rewarded in heaven by their acts on earth.. They did it for themselves, perceiving their futures with 72 virgin (who they would immediately defrock) concubines... So effectively, they tried to kill 50,000 people so they could live in paradise and engage in endless sex. That's your idea of courage? It makes me wonder if you find people like Jeffrey Dahmer to be "courageous".. Cafefully stalking his youthful prey, displaying courage in opposing the social and legal rules against pedophilia, necrophilia, and cannibalism... Real courageous CD...As far as those who "committed the abuses in Abu Ghraib," what makes you think those were acts of "conscience and belief systems?" Because one of the guards purportedly stated that "he couldn't wait to get over there and kill some sand niggers"... That sounds to me like an expression of conscience and belief... And in your eyes, he courageously followed his convictions just like Nathan Bedford Forrest did in creating the KKK so they could linch black men.... You see Hawk one of the principles of civilization is that we cannot allow each individual to follow his own contrary laws, even when those contrary laws are based upon the genuine and well considered beliefs of that individual. Actually, I thought one of the tenets of civilization was the concept that the social good outweighs the individual good. That people must subordinate their personal desires and rights to include tolerance for the rights and desires of others.. And applauding the "courage" of those who would seek to assert their own rights to the detriment of the rights of others is hardly civilized. In your world, you applaud the courage of people like Hitler, who thought he had the right decide the fates of millions of people who he considered unworthy of existence. And you seem to be showing the accolades for Islamic militants who hold the same beliefs. And I find that disturbing.. I wonder if your loved ones do as well.. Hawk
