We're moving toward less oil consumption in a big way right now. Under Bush, the Hybrid automobile has become the most desirable car in showrooms. Newer more efficient fuel burners are being installed for home heating. If the Dems hadn't blocked ANWAR drilling, we'd have been able to cut our ME oil dependence in half by 2008.

BWAAAHAHAHAAHA! That's a good one!!

Oops. I thought I was on the "Laughter is the Best Medicine" thread. So how DO you talk out of both sides of your mouth that way? Bush responsible for the surging interest in Hybrid cars?(Yes, people, use LESS oil!) And at the same time he thinks the way to energy independence is to drill for MORE oil?

BWAAAHAHAHAHA!! You're killin' me........

Bill, you are correct, I saw the response to you and that response only indicated the individuals lack of understanding of the problem. There is no SILVER bullet that would solve the problem overnight. The sensible way is move toward more fuel efficient vehicles THAT AMERICANS WOULD ACCEPT, and in the interim increase supplies internally. Kerry if elected would propose a HUGE gas tax increase in an attempt TO FORCE AMERICANS to abandon their cars in favor of public transportation, bicycles and walking while the industry designs and builds satisfactory alternative energy fuel systems. He and Gore see alike on this matter. In Gores book he actually proposes a return to the HORSE AND BUGGY. jdn
