Actually, in many cases it is.. There are quite a few conservatives who are just as much against the new wire-tapping laws as democrats..

The difference is that the conservatives, for the most part, are acting on the conviction of their beliefs, not merely to try and make Bush look like some kind of Nazi.

And look at the previous administration.. In 1992, only 302 Federal phone taps were approved. By 1999, that number had risen to 601:

But the reality is that we're in a war. And if Federal Agents can convince a judge that they have a need and probably cause to justify a wiretap of possible terrorist living in this country, I think it's something that must be considered...

But do I want this permission to exist permanently? No..

However, it's a vital tool for waging the war and keeping the country safer..

And you do want to keep this country safe, don't you?
