Deterrent is the proper word. And at that, it doesn't matter whether it's 1,000 or 30,000. With the size of the North Korean army, the only plausible option in stopping them is with the use of tactical nukes.

Deterrent is perhaps the point of view from an American civilian perspective. And I will agree it is a deterrent.
But when shots are fired, as they have been occasionally, the UN calls it an armistice violation.

I do agree 100% that we will not get into another land war in Korea. I too think nukes will be the only option.
