Teddy Roosevelt was the first president to even notice the devastation of wildlife and the environment, but it took many decades for it to become a recognized subject in the mainstream. WWII put environmentalism on the backburner and the Cold War did too. Not until the early 60's did it really begin, but then only slowly. Since then, Bush is by far the worst president on the environment. But he and Cheney are oilmen funded by polluters so what do you expect? You guys voted for him, not us. And thanks a lot.
