On smaller scale, the owner of a local small chocolate confisery (liquor filled chocolates) told me that business is lousy, just enough to keep the store going. It's not even worth making comparison to what business was in 1990's. Most people who bought specialty chocolates use discretionary funds and bonuses. Nowadays, clients buy for personal enjoyment, not for parties. Last Christmas' and New Year's sales was utter disappointment. He raised prices but lost it to higher insurance costs. He has one consolation, his friends of same business in Germany are in the same boat.
