Go to the Sacramento Bee website and do your homework on the phony energy crisis of 2000-2001. The price spikes started as Bush-Cheney were being nominated and only ended after Jeffords switched parties. The week after Jeffords gave DEms subpoena powers to investigate the energy gouging, there was a sudden energy glut which supposedly was a severe shortage just the week before.

Lesson being, never elect oilmen to national office again. They serve their constituents first, meaning Big Oil and other big polluters.
