I live in the DC area. DC is completely screwed up financially. They drove their investors, tax base right out of the city. Now driving offroad is smoother than onroad. This is no exaggeration. Somebody forgot that their tax rates have to be comparable to Virginia and Maryland. Somebody forgot that people don't want to live around criminals and espeically with no way to defend yourself other than calling 911 and waiting 10 minutes on average for a response. Of course your dead by then if you even get the call off. Even Justice Souter was attacked here a few weeks ago. I bet that attack knocked some his liberalism out of him too. And the problems in DC that are gang related are not related to poverty. Thats a cop out. There are plenty of really poor rural areas that are free of violence, places in Kentucky, Tennesse and West Virginia. Gangs work under the principles of Greed and Pride. Selling drugs is a greed activity not an activity of the poor just trying to get by. Its about making a lot of money not buying a loaf of bread at the store.
