I think the entire thousand were in front of me on the freeway yesterday. OK, that's an exaggeration. Maybe two hundred of them were right ahead of me. Slowed traffic but I didn't grumble too much given the circumstances.

They were wearing helmets that looked like old fashioned army helmets. Kinda cool, although of questionable effectiveness in an accident.

I know people who ride with Rolling Thunder. They're not what I'd call "bikers," more like elderly guys with real jobs who dress up for Memorial Day and relive their youth. They're all at least 50 years old.

Edit: this year they're staying at the Crystal City Hyatt Regency! LOL!

My uncle, a very nice retired 70-ish dentist who's had a triple bypass, and my brother, a very nice male nurse who runs some clinics in Arizona, both ride Harleys. They're not what I'd call "bikers" either. They just ride motorcycles.

When I was much younger, I knew people who rode with groups like the Outlaws, Nomads, and MaRIa. Not quite Hells Angels, but almost. That's what a biker is.
