Naive, no you are willfully ignoring history.

Saudia Arabia withheld exports and was able to return supply as required when their political point was made.

They also raised prices substantially during the 1970's.

We had an option in response these actions earlier. We were very inefficient and we had areas to explore. Today we can gain some efficiency, but there are no more North Seas or Alaskas.

Did I say I provided an article predicting what I said? This is a common response from you. Do you see any history of nations fighting when their economic interests are severally threatened?

There is no correlation between Iraq today and high oil prices. Their is a correlation between oil prices and scarcity, oil prices and terror.

Already the adventure in Iraq has reduced the amount of oil available on the market. It would require complete idiots to amplify the situation in the presence of the lesson of Iraq.

You know Carl that I agree with you on many things, at least having to do with Iraq. But on this, I have to say I think you are once again underestimating the idiocy of our leader and some (not all) of the Republican Party. I actually believe that some of them are really sincere in thinking that their good intentions of setting up democracy in the mideast will prevail. You think they are no longer as naive as before; but look not just at this thread, look at many threads and how they argue patriotism, how they ban (if they can) people who express opposing opinions, how they continue to spout nonsense.

You think Bush is smart enough to quit after Nov. I think he is a dry drunk with delusions of grandeur and the "power of the almighty". If he wins in Nov, we'll see who's right.
