<<My Rover's documentation claims I need the hi-test gas but I've burned mid-range for years with no problems. I did this after coming across some posts about it on Rover enthusiast websites. They actually claim that Rovers can burn the low grade but I've never been brave enough to try it.>>

OK- the Web should be a good place to start looking for tests of alternate fuels or mixtures.

There may be some here willing to try it on cars they can afford to put at risk.

If I find time I may try it on a 93 Chev 6 cylinder.

Success would cut down the fear of a gas shortage, just in case one has to make even a short trip.

But it is a bit early to panic. I have 3 diesels which will burn almost anything such as motor oil, corn oil, peanut oil, but not pure gas.
