Just such a weird way of expressing your thoughts about having children. I hope you meant, "if they are unable to communicate with each other about important issues like child care, they should not have children."

If you really think of it as "he's getting children" or "he's not getting children" -- very strange. It takes two to have children, so you both "get children" at the same time -- but it sounds like a power struggle is going on. Children are NOT a good topic for a power struggle.
