Phil > I am not holding because I believe any particular future forecast for the POG, rather for its present value.

Look at the stochastic cycles on this weekly chart of the gold price and you will see that the present cycle is turning up from a very low level and the red line is crossing the blue. Now look back on the chart to where a similar event has occurred and you will see that it invariably has been associated with an increase in the gold price.

Of course, this is only a graph, not a crystal ball!

<<The US dollar is floating on righteous hot air>>

Philv, so is the United States Congress. This august body of lawmakers seem to be totally ineffective against the the shenanigans of the neocons and the FED run goons who share the implicit dealings of the Executive branch of government.

It's frustrating to know that secret and felonious activity is occurring on a regular basis and we have no George Washington or Andrew Jacksons to stand up and be accountable.

J.

Here's one you'll like

>>Former Maryland State Senator Tim Ferguson is warning "the Federal Reserve is planning to destroy the U.S. economy by printing the U.S. dollar in exponentially riskier quantities until it blows off the charts and crashes, and by easing credit and rates until the average individual and corporate debt loads are so enormous that the resulting massive distortions in the economy suddenly bring on an economic heart attack, leaving no possibility of a short or even medium-term recovery."

Senator Ferguson went on to say in his recent piece published in Usury, Inc:

"That great criminal enterprise - the Federal Reserve - has accomplished step #1, trashing and ending the dollar system, culminating a multi-year, massive, insane inflation of money supply and credit....corporations such as Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, Farmer Mac, FHA, GM, Ford, and GE (which are actually banks), worked hand-in-hand with the Bank Cartel on this sickening, twisted game, switching from pumping credit cards and cars (which have gone to zero percent financing 12 months ago) to a last-ditch horrendous push into mortgage lending.<<

Phil > I have grown to be so jaded and cynical, having been disciplined by the "real" markets regardless of fundamentals

Here's something that will shake you.

Dow Transports v Dow Industrials v XAU

finance.yahoo.com^DTX&t=2y&l=on&z=l&q=l&c=^xau,^DJI

After two years, all within a few percent of each other.

And, over the past three months, during which time the oil price and the gas price reached historic highs, which do you think did the best? Transports! Believe it or not.

So how does that work? CNBC tells us that the airlines will lose billions, but the transportation index beats the others.
