>>why Bush, an incumbent, is running neck and neck with Kerry

Why is Kerry only "neck and neck" with Bush when Bush is getting hit from all sides? Could it be because no one likes Kerry either?

BTW, not for nothing but small sample polls really do not mean all that much...

Kerry hit Bush hard today on WMD's proliferation. Remember with all Bush's talk about wanting to keep WMD's out of the wrong hands, he's all but ignored the single biggest source of them of all, the lightly-guarded ex Soviet military weapons storehouses. The right bribe could transfer such weapons to the wrong hands, but the Bushies refused to put up the money to buy and secure these "loose nukes" and other deadly suibstances. Kerry has been a champion of doing that for many years.
