40 Days of Prayer : Day 12
Plant the good seeds of righteousness and you will harvest a crop of my love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that He may come and shower righteousness upon you. Hosea 10:12
May this verse awaken in us a deeper call to prayer. I pray for the Spirit of intercession to multiply among us as we seek the Lord during these 40 days. The Hebrew word used in this verse for seek is the word for the dawning of the sun! What a beautiful picture that as we awaken, and are alert to the Lord's voice, we will be aglow with His Presence.

Our intercessory prayers are needed to plow up the hard ground of hearts everywhere and to ask for God's mercy and forgiveness upon us. The harvest and showers of righteousness will not come without a struggle. We must fervently and continually be in prayer; calling for a mighty flow of God's grace in our world, for His kingdom to come and for the evil in this world to be overturned. May our prayers today form a united chorus where as one mind and heart, we ask the Lord to rain down His righteousness among us.

40 Days of Prayer : Day 13
With Jesus' help, let us continually offer our sacrifice of praise to God by proclaiming the glory of His name. Hebrews 13:15

The word, sacrifice, comes from the Greek word, thuo which means "to kill or slaughter for a purpose." Praise often requires that we kill our pride, fear, feelings - anything that threatens to diminish or interfere with our worship of Jesus Christ. Praise will not be hindered when we keep our focus on Christ, the author and finisher of our salvation.

Another translation of this verse refers to the sacrifice of praise being the "fruit of our lips." Just as with the fruit God creatively brings forth from plant life, so the Holy Spirit will bring new and living worship unto God from our lips and our whole being. May our worship of Jesus during these 40 days cause us to see His wonder, majesty, greatness and superiority afresh and anew. May the Holy Spirit breathe new worship and praise in all of us today!

In Revelation 5:13, we hear the final chorus of praise. It is more than animate creation worshiping; it is the whole creation. "And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever . Here we have the whole creation joining in this magnificent chorus, revealing to us God's ultimate purpose in creation... that every created being might worship the Lamb upon the throne with Him. May we pray for this to be fulfilled! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
