No doubt I dont know what it is like to be in combat, but I do know what it is to suffer under poor leadership in both the military and civilian life. But the vast majority of my time in the military I was led by very fine officers who I would trust in life and death situations.

You apparently had very negative experiences in Vietnam and no doubt many did.

No one said officers or enlisted personnel are perfect. No doubt military personnel have been dying because of the mistakes of others since the beginning of time.

Can you comprehend the significance of 2/3 of the worlds oil sitting in the Persian Gulf region? The USA uses 25% of all oil produced everyday, 60% or more is imported.

What people cannot understand is that when we seek an alternative energy source it does not free us from the impact of Mideast oil. If we reduce our dependence 10% that demand gets picked up by one of our trading partners. The prosperous members are all dependent on the free flow of oil from the gulf, we cannot reduce our exposure to an acceptable level.

So like I said, sooner or later the industrialized world may be forced to do whatever is necessary to keep the Persian Gulf areas producing.

Is that too emotional for you?
