David, I agree with Bush on this:

cnn.com

"We have decided to release this information to help people understand why we are doing what we are doing in the war on terror and to help people understand the nature of the threat we face," he said.

Comey asserted that if Padilla had been handled by the more conventional criminal justice system, he could have stayed silent and "would likely have ended up a free man."
cnn.com
-----------

I think there is some truth to the notion that terrorists are different than your common-day individual criminal. Our laws aren't set up to handle terrorism. It's also different than fighting a geographical war. It appears the current laws force the USA to outsource some of the military intelligence to other countries as a way to get around a judicial system not geared up for preventing terrorism.

I think it's better to fix the laws so the laws adequately address terrorism, and allows for a new dimension of protection.

But they should tread more carefully, by ensuring troops do not misbehave and by improving their PR, to avoid inciting even more terrorists.

Regards,
Amy J

> And you do? What makes you more deserving?

Because I support the use of our military to defend the country against foreign attackers.

That would be a legitimate point if it were true........but its not true. Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with 9/11 and I think you know that. That's why the position of the neocons does not hold up under scrutiny. A huge leap of faith is needed and those of us who were opposed to the war from the get go are not willing to make that leap.

Having said that, I want to apologize for my comment re. breakfast........not because it's so bad......I have said worse to you.........but because it was pretty silly and juvenile.
