I was a bachelor father for many years in the army...with three kids and a Special Forces career to manage.

I tried to resign and was told to just stay in and the teams would take care of me and they did.

My team sergeant at the time (he has been the SF Regimental SGM for the past several years.) moved to staff, I stayed on a team. He and the org provided.

My youngsters are all between 35-40 now. We have discussed all of this many times. They are grateful we hung together.

So am I.

I was present at their conception and births. And also assisted at numerous births in the jungle including breach, still, multiple and other difficult births where all involved did not survive.

I do not question the importance of mothers and motherhood. My own kids missed much of that and I regret it even if they do not.

I have no idea what that has to do with my post about combat however.
