cny,
If you were a Bush, I suspect we agree on more than you know.

From Feb 62-Dec67 I was in training and an SF Demolitions and explosives expert. MOS was 12B4S29.
12B was combat demolitions (An engineer MOS). 4 was SSG, S was Special Forces and 29 German linguist.
Spent 36 months deployed overseas as enlisted.

from late 1967 on I was a 3154229. Later I got HALO and combat diver certifications which now adds two more digits to the MOS designator.

1542 was the Infantry officer MOS equivalent of 11B. That has changed since SF is now a branch.
3 was the Special Forces qualification designator (three qualified).
29 is German linguist. Spent another 8 years deployed as commisssioned.

I spent lots of time in the highlands too...But never with the Cav. I was further N in the 4th ID AO.

I was in Pleiku, Kontum, Dak To and Ben Het area in the central highlands. Later was (among other jobs) Air Strike liason to the Korean White Horse Regimment in Kerry's AO. I like the beach so enjoyed the Nha Trang to Camh Ranh time.

Later as a CPT, I spent 36 months as the commander of one of the very first "A" teams designated to work terror and stay behind OPS and spent all three years deployed overseas behind the iron curtain. Earlier, I had done similar work as enlisted for 36 months too.
