I agree, except the one thing I see that may help keep the US dollar strong (or stronger than expected) is the continued desire of so many other CBers to keep their currency weak. If it weren't for that desire on the part of the BOJ, who knows what would have unraveled already.

Gold weak today despite a soft dollar.

BTW, when gold exploded from $100 to over $800 during the late 1970s, the dollar did not go down that much. Gold exploded versus all currencies back then. FEAR of runaway inflation, NOT a weak buck was the primary factor behind that move.
