Bush is trying to equate himself with FDR. I know it sounds ridiculous but the sneaky subliminal trick is to make gullible people fear we're in such a war fotting that they should just vote for Bush even though they know he's a lousy president. FDR even got people to vote him a third term. Hidden message, give permanent power to the rightwing who will fight the permanent war against terror. And if the war ever ends, they'll find a way to keep it going.
