That's part of it, but people want control over this more then many other things so it can't be just that they are control freaks.

Many people are convinced that all the discrimination and racial animosity from the pre-desegregation days will return if equal opportunity laws are repealed or changed to apply only to the public sector. I'm just about sure that no such thing would happen but it can be hard to convince someone of this. If someone is not really a control freak but not very libertarian either they might feel that we need to have such laws and rules to avoid a disaster.

Even many libertarians might allow some state action not supported by a relatively pure vision of libertarian thought if they thought that it was needed to prevent disaster. The problem with this fact is that people can also be manipulated to believe that a disaster is likely, whether or not a disaster is likely. Also even when a disaster is likely questions about whether a proposed government action will be either necessary or sufficient to prevent the disaster get lost in the emotional and political need to "do something".

honestly, i'm all in favor of the ruling...frankly i'm tired of "ladies night"

i mean as a woman of means, who needs that? all those posers showing up where they otherwise couldn't afford it..

well... how 'bout at least start a "hunky dude" night to facilitate men showing up on the restaurant's dime..

but then of course that would mean the dudes were most likely broke...

oh well gee...

never mind

:)
