ET, RE: "Israel's destruction perhaps."

The US would never let Israel get destroyed.

RE: " How do you make peace with a leadership intent on killing you?"

By walking softer. A county that is confident in its ability to protect itself and its partners ability to protect it, isn't going to be so destructively paranoid to the point it actually hurts itself by treading too aggressively. A country that is overly paranoid, can be overly forceful, which in turn creates a huge PR problem, which only generates more terrorists. Catch 22.

The Lukid Party could start fixing the problem by letting go some of the settlements that only they seem to want.

Just out of curiosity, rather than wittle Palestine down to nothing but destruction, why doesn't Israel's govt take the country over and rebuild it up to give people hope? Not implying that's a good solution, in fact I don't think it is, but given Israel govt's sometimes overly forceful military activities, I wondered why their govt didn't do that.

Regards,
Amy J

>How do you make peace with a leadership intent on killing you? That repeatedly negotiates in bad faith?

You could try taking the high road; at least it'd get more of the international community on your side.

Israel certainly isn't doing that.

"I want Israeli to have what is theirs and the Palestinians to have what is theirs"

At least we agree on something. I don't see how it can happen if the PA is not interested in dialogue,

There have been attempts made at dialogue.....Israel has stipulated that it will talk only when the violence ends. Since Hamas is not beholden to any gov't unit, Israel and the PA won't be talking any time soon.

if it is not interested in recognizing Israel's legitimacy as a country, has a mandate to destroy Israel and continues its terror attacks. You seem to ignore the fact that the people of Israel want peace

Do they? And if the people want peace, do their leaders? Would Israel prefer to have some violence and access to a large aquifer of water as opposed to real peace?

You seem to want to ignore the facts.......Israel is controlling Palestinian water and taking it for their own use. Who gave them that right?

and the PA leadership passed on a real opportunity to achieve statehood with Jerusalem as its capital. Complain about the 2000 deal all you want, but it was a real offer the PA chose to pass on in favor of using terror to achieve its ends.... Which are??? Israel's destruction perhaps. Don't past events suggest that the current PA leadership is not interested in statehood with Israel as a neighbor. How do you make peace with a leadership intent on killing you? That repeatedly negotiates in bad faith?

I have said before and I will say it again.......its not just the PA who is negoatiating in bad faith.

Your complaints are the traditional complaints made by Israelis who, in reality, do not have any real interest in coming to terms with the PA.

In reality, Israel wants the WB and its water. Please, please, please tell me why we should allow this travesty of justice?
