WASHINGTON -- Embattled CIA Director George Tenet has resigned his post, President George W. Bush announced Thursday.

"He told me he's leaving for personal reasons. I told him I was sad he was resigning. He's done a superb job," Bush said in a White House news conference.

Tenet served in the Clinton administration as well. He is the second-longest serving director of the agency.
