AMAT: Initiated Coverage with Outperform - We initiated coverage of Applied Materials on May 5, at the previous day's closing price of $18.65. We believe that we are still in the relatively early stages of a cyclical recovery in the semiconductor capital equipment industry. As the dominant player in the industry, Applied Materials is positioned to benefit substantially from this recovery, in our opinion.

NVLS: Reit Outperform - Novellus yesterday announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire Peter Wolters, a privately-held company based in Rendsburg, Germany. Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close at the beginning of 3Q04, were not released.>>

Probably that was the fear yesterday. But now that factor is gone. I wonder what will motivate the sellers today ? Especially since oil is down, fear of Intel is gone, and the jobs report will be very good. I just can't believe the selling is by people who actually own shares. I think it is a combination of shorting the shares, and shorting the sector bundles.
