Re: Wasn't it just early last week that they were gaga over the corporate PC replacement cycle? Is that over now?

LOL! I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. Apparently valuing stocks has more to do with what kind of mood a certain group of people are in on a given day/week than with fundamentals.

I was not invested 20 or 30 years ago, but I have a hard time believing that stocks rose and fell on peoples whims the way they appear to today.

Exactly,

I'm glad you said that,
I was just scratching mt head as to where I got that impression.

Was it microsoft that first said they were seeing the beginning of the replacement cycle.

If so and Intel is doing better with laptops and flash is getting traction - I would think that means the high end of the guidance would be retained.

Intel lost some market share in flash when they nudged up their margins and AMD snuck in below them - that was two quarters ago.Last quarter it wasn't a share loss issue - this quarter I heard an analyst state he thought Intel was gaining traction in flash.

He also said it would depend on the replacement cycle. He thought flash ,laptop "Centrino",and Xeon servers were going strong.

We'll know tonight.

Bob

My bet is with all the puts being sold this last 2 weeks - the market might take a high end range retention as a very nice up move.Next week is the wednesday before epiration (a usaully volatile period)
