<I do agree that force should be met with force.>

CB, first, communication should be tried, to see if there is a mind to be dealt with. If not, then it's time to use the forces of nature to deal with the problem, whether it's a mindless bolide coming in or a mindless marauder wanting to steal property or a mindless murderer enmeshed in a mad ideology.

In the case of Tillman and co, if they had tried communication first, rather than firepower, some people would still be alive.

Of course, sometimes, there isn't a lot of time for a pow-wow or hui. But there seems to be an issue with the USA in terms of trigger-happiness. The culture is shoot 'em up John Wayne [now Terminator] style.

Thinking, empathy and communication beats shooting and destroying.

>> Yet, again, I can't ask anyone to tolerate armed gunmen walking up to children and shooting them in the head. That must be stopped, with force if need be, and there appears to be no other solution.

Before I reply, let me ask for a clarification. Are you opposed to all killing of children ? Including dropping bombs on them from airplanes, shooting missiles at them from helicopters - regardless of who did the killing ? or do you find many excuses for the Israelis and Americans to do that, while rightly condemning it when Palestinians do it ?

In other words, if I could document for you instances where Israelis shot into crowds killing children, would that cause you to vote against politicians supporting Israel, or is it just another exercise of debating skills ?
