Technology leaders can build a 512MB card with *only one* 4Gb flash chip plus controller.
4Gb MLC flash chip (see slide 15) "production expected to start summer 2004"

Technology/density laggards will need 2 to 8 flash chips (plus controller) to get the same "sweet spot" 512MB density.
Their cost *will* be higher.....specially when 4Gb MLC yields will become acceptable.
